Guerra de los Mil Días
Definition
A Colombian civil war from 1899 to 1902 that was also fought on the isthmus. It left the territory impoverished and divided, and it is the setting in which Victoriano Lorenzo fought and was executed. The 1903 separation comes barely a year after it ended.
